Increase motorbike and cycling parking

What with the congestion charge and everyone’s efforts to reduce pollution in central London, many of us have reverted to two wheels as the best way to get around. In the City there remains a real struggle to park, especially for motorbikes and mopeds and I believe more can and should be done to provide extra parking places.

Keeping the city moving

We are never short of roadworks and building works that mean partial road closures. The work is essentail but causes traffic chaos in the city, stopping the easy flow of traffic and causing talebacks and bus delays.

I want to work with the corpration to ensure roadworks and diversions are better planned, done out of peak hours and we find ways to keep our city moving when essential works are being done.

Call for business recycling

Many of you have commented that the Corporation simply isn’t doing enough to enable us – businesses and workers alike – to recycle waste paper, bottles etc. If elected, I am going to make pressing for better recycling resources one of my top priorities

A modern and thriving City

The Corporation’s much heralded deal with wi-fi ISP to bring internet access to the streets of the City hasn’t achieved much. Whenever I try and log-on, the signal strength is either weak or non-existent. If our neighbours in Islington can get free wi-fi access the whole way along Upper Street, then surely the world’s leading financial centre could do better?

One of the best things about the City is that it encompasses ancient traditions and magnificent old buildings alongside leading edge markets and spectacular new architecture. I am dedicated to preserving that balance and making the City as open and accessible as possible to City workers and visitors.

Welcome letter

Dear Elector
It was a real honour to have been asked to stand in this election in place of the late Bruce Farthing. Bruce was a tremendous representative of the City and particularly of the shipping industry and he will be sorely missed. If elected, I hope that my experience in the marine market will allow me to carry on his work.

My family have had business connections in the Ward of Aldgate since the eighteenth century and I have worked here for the last twenty-five years as an accountant, company secretary and compliance specialist in the Lloyd’s insurance market.

To my mind the insurance and shipping industries, along with the professional firms that support them, still represent what is best about the City of London and, as an elected member of the City Corporation, I will do everything I can to promote and assist their ongoing development.

I look forward to meeting you over the coming weeks. In the meantime, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

With best regards,

Jamie Ingham Clark
